Hi, I’m Celia!
I write about how technology
shapes the creation of knowledge.

Starting in mid-August, I will be covering AI policy at Transformer.
As a former primate electrophysiologist, I’m also selfishly invested in the state of animal research. To scratch this itch, I write The Replacement, a biweekly newsletter about the shift towards human-centered science.
Between 2022 and 2025, I served a three year term as “fellow” — first at The Open Notebook, then at WIRED (via the AAAS Mass Media Fellowship program), and most recently at Vox’s Future Perfect.
I transitioned to journalism after receiving my Ph.D. in neuroscience from UC Berkeley and my Sc.B. in cognitive neuroscience from Brown University. I’ll always think that brains are really, really cool.
